Leeds United may be hoping to see Mateusz Klich leave the club permanently this summer.
Leeds United’s season is somewhat petering out with just six games to play, and manager Paul Heckingbottom is surely already planning for next season.
The Whites have won just twice in 2018, ruling them out of play-off contention, and changes may be on the horizon this summer.
Heckingbottom will be hoping to bring in his own players this summer, but part of his plans for next season may include offloading some of the flops signed by director of football Victor Orta.
The Spaniard brought in the likes of Felix Wiedwald and Pawel Cibicki last summer with little success, whilst Mateusz Klich is surely heading for the exit door just a year since signing from FC Twente.
Klich, 27, played just six times under Thomas Christiansen before leaving for a return to the Netherlands back in January, joining Eredivisie side Utrecht on loan until the end of the season.
The midfielder seemingly has no future with Leeds, and the Whites will now be hoping to take advantage of Yassin Ayoub’s exit, as the key Utrecht midfielder has already agreed to join Feyenoord at the end of the season.
Utrecht will therefore need to reinforce their midfield, and Klich’s loan spell – which has seen him play more games for them than he did for Leeds – could result in a permanent move.
Leeds would therefore be able to recoup some of their outlay on Klich, taking full advantage of Utrecht’s need for a midfielder – and bring a premature end to one of Orta’s biggest flops at Elland Road.
