The Valencia defender was linked with Everton and Chelsea in the transfer window.

Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour has confirmed to Marca that he was in talks with Premier League clubs this summer but failed to move due to financial issues.
The defender was heavily linked with a move to England for most of the summer, with a couple of sides reportedly showing interest.
Everton were the side linked the most as Ronald Koeman looked to improve his defence following the departure of John Stones to Manchester City.

Later in the window, Chelsea were also suggested as suitors before they eventually decided to bring David Luiz back to the club from Paris Saint-Germain.
And he has now confirmed that he was in talks, although he failed to name who the interested sides were.
“I was negotiating with English clubs during the transfer window but for financial reasons the transfer did not happen,” he told Marca.
“Valencia is a great club and I have no problem continuing because I have four years left on my contract.”

It is certainly surprising to hear that financial issues were the reason behind Abdennour’s failed move this summer.
Given this window was the one in which Premier League clubs spent the most, breaking the £1 billion mark for the first time, it is fair to say that money was not an issue for any club.
The wages being offered were also arguably at an all-time high, but it appears that Abdennour’s may have been too high even for English sides.
