Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe may well be pleased that his potential move to Aston Villa didn’t go through now.

The Daily Mail reported how Villa were trying to bring Tuanzebe in from United over the summer, but they failed to get an £8 million deal over the line.

Tuanzebe had impressed at Villa on loan last season, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to take a closer look at the centre-back.

Initially it was feared that Tuanzebe would simply be kept in the reserves at United if he didn’t make a move to Villa.

However, it seems like the youngster has received a huge promotion at Old Trafford.

Tuanzebe now looks to be United’s third choice central defender, after being included on their bench ahead of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling on opening day.

And even though Tuanzebe will have fond memories of Villa, he may well be pleased that he is not at Villa Park right now, as he seems to have a genuine chance of playing regularly for United this term.
