Doyle-Hayes has only made three appearances for Villa in his short career.

Axel Tuanzebe has told Aston Villa’s official website that teenage midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes is the young Villa star that has impressed him the most since he returned this summer on loan from Manchester United.

Tuanzebe, 20, has been a regular in Steve Bruce’s side after he rejoined the Championship club on a season-long loan from Jose Mourinho’s United, playing at both right-back and centre-back.

He has impressed at the back, with Bruce looking for the England youth international to become a consistent performer with little other options in defence after John Terry left the club and Tommy Elphick joined Hull City on loan.

Tuanzebe was asked a number of questions about his Villa teammates, including which young star had impressed him the most and he chose to applaud midfielder Doyle-Hayes – despite the 19-year-old only making three Villa appearances.

“I’m going to go with Jake Doyle-Hayes,” Tuanzebe said. “He’s a quiet lad but he does his talking on the field. He comes to life on the football pitch.

“He is a model young professional – he does his job, works hard, he’s always looking to learn. He works for other people, which I really like, he has the best interests of the team at heart, which is a good trait.”

Doyle-Hayes made one of his three appearances this season in the Carabao Cup win over Yeovil Town, but was an unused substitute against League One side Burton Albion in the second round – with Villa suffering a loss.

He remains a constant fixture in Villa’s second string, clocking up 43 appearances throughout his career. The likes of Glenn Whelan, Mile Jedinak, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane and new signing John McGinn above him in the pecking order.
