Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter in anger after the club announced a pre-season meeting with Watford ahead of the 2021/22 season.
What’s the story?
You might be wondering why the Crystal Palace fans are annoyed about the arrangement of a pre-season friendly.
Well, there is a bit of bad blood between the Eagles and the Hornets.
Players from both sides would often come to blows as Watford seemed to target Wilfried Zaha in every meeting.
Troy Deeney even admitted that Watford’s players take turns fouling the Ivorian, so none of them receive two yellow cards.
Watford fans often boo Zaha and accuse him of being a diver too, after he – legitimately – won a penalty against them in the 2013 Play-Off final.
What are Crystal Palace thinking?

Now, there may be no need to panic. Watford are a much-changed team from the one who suffered relegation.
Ringleader Etienne Capoue has left, while Xisco has arrived as manager – a man who might not understand the ill feeling between the two sides.
In that respect, Watford might not be as physical as before.
Having said that, what if they are?

Whoever organised this friendly clearly wasn’t thinking straight.
If Zaha – or any other key player – gets injured following a strong challenge in this game, Patrick Vieira will surely be fuming.
For now, let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s announcement…
