Don Hutchison has criticised Aston Villa central defender Tyrone Mings on PremierLeague.com for his mistake against Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the first half of the Premier League game at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
Steven Gerrard’s Villa conceded after just six minutes when England international midfielder Mason Mount found the back of the net for Chelsea.
England international centre-back Mings lost the ball in the air, and Mount scored.
Ben Chilwell clipped a ball in from the left, and Mings tried to head it away.
However, the Villa centre-back scuffed it into the area, and it fell for Mount to tap in past goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Former Liverpool and Everton midfielder Hutchison was following the match for PremierLeague.com, and he was not impressed by Mings.

Hutchison said: “That’s an awful mistake. Maybe Tyrone Mings lost the ball in the sun, but it’s an awful header. You’ve got to get height and distance on that and clear your lines. It’s a gift.”
Disappointing
Aston Villa are not having the best of seasons, and Tyrone Mings is among the players who is not doing well.
Mings is not guaranteed a place in Steven Gerrard’s starting lineup, and we can see why based on his mistake against Chelsea.
Now, of course, every footballer makes mistake, but Mings’s error against the Blues was really bad.
A quality and experienced defender such as Mings should be doing much better.
