West Ham United fans think that Aston Villa have overpaid for Ross Barkley.
West Ham were interested in doing a deal for Barkley, but ultimately pulled out of the race, when they realised the costs involved.
The Daily Mirror say that Villa will have to pay £11 million in total fees to keep Barkley for the year.
And West Ham supporters think that Villa may have spent too much on bringing the England international in on a short-term basis.
Despite the costs involved, Villa fans have been delighted by Barkley’s arrival.
It is expected that the Chelsea loanee will add to the quality in their midfield ranks and he should take some of the creative burden off Jack Grealish.
West Ham, meanwhile, are still searching for new recruits as the transfer deadline nears.
West Ham have struggled to get much business done this summer, and Barkley could have been an appealing addition to their squad, if he had been available on a cheaper deal.
