‘Avoid praising Nuno’: Some Spurs fans react to Aston Villa man’s claim about 29-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur fans have issued a mixed response to Dean Smith’s comments about Heung-Min Son.

On Sunday, Spurs recorded a 2-1 win over Aston Villa, with Son supplying two assists and, according to Smith, he was ‘the difference’, as he told BBC Sport.

That was Son at his very best, and when he is performing like that, then not many can stop the 29-year-old.

Some Spurs fans disagreed with Smith’s comments because they feel Emiliano Martinez was the difference, not Son.

The Villa shot-stopper probably prevented his team from conceding a few more goals because the Aston Villa man was outstanding in between the sticks.

The home team went into yesterday’s game having suffered three defeats on the bounce.

And there was serious pressure on the man in the dugout, not just because of results, but also performances.

But his best players stepped up during a critical period for the club, with Son being the Man of the Match.

There were some Spurs fans who praised Smith for his comments and how he understands when he sees a top quality player.

It’s not the first time that Son has hurt Villa because, before the pandemic hit, he scored a last-gasp winner at Villa Park under Jose Mourinho’s stewardship.
