Tim Sherwood told Soccer Special on Wednesday night (24/02/21 at 7:00 pm) that Tottenham need to ‘avoid’ the likes of Arsenal after progressing through to the last-16 of the Europa League.
The former Premier League boss shared that he has Tottenham as ‘second-favourites’ to win the competition, with Arsenal in action today.
Whilst Tottenham’s tie against Austrian side Wolfsberger was a bit more straightforward, the same cannot be said for their neighbours, who are level on scores with Benfica heading into their second-leg showdown.
Nonetheless, Sherwood seemingly thinks Arsenal will progress because he feels the English teams will be a ‘real force’ in the Europa League this season.
“They are second-favourites to win it,” said Sherwood. “Manchester United will be favourites. I think it’s all in the draw now.
“You want to try and avoid Manchester United. You want to avoid Arsenal. You want to avoid Leicester. I think the English teams are the real force in this competition.”

Arsenal are well aware of what it’s like facing off in an all-English Europa League final because that’s what happened during their now-unforgettable night against Chelsea.
Given that Jose Mourinho has history in this competition, Manchester United have dropped from the Champions League and Leicester are sitting third in the Premier League table.
It does provide all three teams with a serious chance to put a major trophy in their cabinet.
