Harry Redknapp has claimed that Everton midfielder, Allan, ‘can’t run’, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Premier League boss launched a scathing attack at the club, it’s ‘average’ characters in the dressing room and ’shocking’ recruitment.

On Monday night, Everton were thrashed 5-0 by Tottenham to further dent their chances of surviving in England’s top-flight.

Allan started the game in north London, and despite being nicknamed ‘wheels’ in his home country of Brazil because of his energy in the middle of the park.

The 31-year-old has been criticised by Redknapp for what he has been producing for Everton of late.

“If you go through them, man for man, it’s a poor outfit,” said Redknapp. “They have recruited badly. They have no legs in midfield.

“The little boy Allan can’t run. He can’t get around the pitch. It’s only the young lad, Gordon, who has shown some life.

“They are really a poor outfit. You look at their managers, they have had Champions League-winning managers.

“Ancelotti. He couldn’t get a tune out of the club. Rafa Benitez, the same. They have gone through good managers. Their recruitment has been shocking. Average managers and average characters.”

Allan joined Everton in 2020 for £21 million (BBC Sport) from Napoli when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of the club.

The all-action midfielder had a big reputation when he swapped Naples for Merseyside and it seemed like a top purchase at the time.

Whilst Allan’s form, like the rest of this Everton side, has well and truly fallen off a cliff, there is still a top-quality player in there.

Lampard just needs more time on the training ground, the correct system and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Allan is one of the players who helps the club get out of their current mess.
