Everton have been linked with a move to finally sign Lamine Kone.
Everton are enjoying a turnaround in fortunes under Sam Allardyce, as the new Toffees boss remains unbeaten since replacing Ronald Koeman.
With three wins and three draws in his six games in charge, Allardyce has steadied the ship at Goodison Park, and he may be eyeing January additions.
A deal to finally land a replacement for Romelu Lukaku appears to be close, with Besiktas hitman Cenk Tosun seemingly nearing a move to Merseyside – and he may not be the only one.
Another centre back may yet be on Allardyce’s radar, and The Sun recently reported that he is keen on a reunion with Sunderland ace Lamine Kone, who is available in a cut-price deal in January.
Allardyce got the best out of Kone at Sunderland following a January 2016 move from Lorient, but the Black Cats are set to offload the Ivorian in January to fund other moves.
A bid from Allardyce may see Kone finally join Everton, given that he has been a long-term Toffees target, stretching all the way back to the summer of 2016.
Everton submitted a bid of £18million to sign Kone, according to Sky Sports, but the deal fell through, and Kone has never been able to recapture the form which saw him star under Allardyce.
Now available for around half of the price, Everton could finally sign Kone next month – but only if Allardyce truly believes he can help the 28-year-old hit top form in the Premier League once again.
