With Tottenham Hotspur struggling to get a deal for Jack Grealish over the line, revisiting interest in Max Meyer should be an option the North London side consider.

SkySports report the Germany international remains a free agent after refusing to sign a contract extension with Schalke.

Meyer has undergone a bit of a transformation over the past two years, converted from an attacking midfielder who played as a number 10, to a defensive midfielder.

Getting the chance to play under Mauricio Pochettino could develop his career further and the 22-year-old is said by SkySports to be holding out for a Premier League move.

Tottenham were claimed to be looking at Meyer two years ago, with German newspaper BILD linking them with a big deadline day bid in 2016.

Meyer would now be a steal on a free transfer, and save Tottenham millions if they look at him as an alternative to Jack Grealish.

Both players are 22-years-old, with great potential but also inconsistent. The difference is Meyer is free and Grealish could cost upwards of £30 million.
