Tottenham target Max Meyer offered a timely reminder of his talent ahead of the transfer window.

It is fair to say Max Meyer has not lived up to the hype since Tottenham tried to buy him in on deadline day in 2016.
Bild had reported Spurs offered £33 million for the winger, with Schalke resisting their advances.
Meyer’s form has flagged over the past 18 months, while his contract continues to run down.

The Sun linked Spurs with a £17.5 million move for Meyer in the summer.
Tottenham have an opportunity to save themselves millions and land him on a free transfer next summer, providing he can prove to them he is still a worthy upgrade to their squad.
The German international has had a tough 2017/18 season, but last night he provided a highlight.
Meyer scored his first goal of the season, a header to clinch a 1-0 win over FC Koln and clinch a quarter-final place.
It was just a small step for Meyer, but it will boost his confidence heading into Germany’s winter break.
The goal also offered a timely reminder of that the 22-year-old is capable of being a matchwinner, even if he has not showcased it this season.
He certainly is not worth the £33 million Tottenham wanted to pay for him, but potentially on a free transfer next summer, the talented attacker could prove to be an astute signing.
