Premier League high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly want to take a punt on Huddersfield Town winger Ramadan Sobhi.

Plenty of green eyes glared in the direction of Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Black Country giants returned to the Premier League in style, beating Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal en route to sealing that coveted ‘best of the rest’ finish in seventh.

But to claim that Wolves, via their Chinese billionaire owners and Jorge Mendes connections, have simply bought their success is unfair and largely inaccurate.

Yes, the club have shattered their transfer record for Ruben Neves, Helder Costa and Adama Traore while bringing in established internationals Raul Jimenez, Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho.

But without the marvellous mind of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolves’ rapid rise wouldn’t have been possible. He has turned talented youngsters into established Premier League stars while creating a system which has allowed experienced imports to thrive.

In short, Nuno is an expert when it comes to helping players feel comfortable and realise their true potential. And this is exactly why Ramadan Sobhi must do everything in his power to seal a move to Molineux this summer.

A £5.7 million signing for Huddersfield Town last summer, Sobhi barely played a game and spent the second half of 2018/19 on loan at Al Ahly. Now, The Sun (14 June, page 57) reports that The Terriers are willing to accept a vastly reduced fee of £700,000.

And this is where Wolves come in.

The Mail claimed in February that Wolves were interested in Sobhi and, while many questioned these links with a player who flopped at Stoke and Huddersfield, it seems that the Black Country giants are one of the few who haven’t forgotten his vast potential.

Aged 22 and previously compared to Lionel Messi and Mo Salah, Nuno is perhaps the coach Sobhi needs to finally live up to that early promise. He has worked wonders with Neves, Diogo Jota and co – who’s to say he can’t do it again?
