Glasgow Rangers should consider trying to bring the £1.5 million-rated striker to Ibrox in the January transfer window.
When Graeme Murty considers what areas of his Rangers squad need strengthening during the January transfer window, adding players in one position will surely be near or at the top of his list of priorities.
Alfredo Morelos remains the Scottish Premiership’s leading goalscorer, but no other striker in the Gers squad has really provided their fair share of goals this season, and that should tempt Murty to go out and try and find a goalscorer before the deadline.
It appears however, that Murty is keen on adding to his defensive options, with the Daily Record reporting ahead of the window that Rangers are keen on signing Russell Martin from Norwich City – and he would love the chance to move to Ibrox.
But perhaps Murty should also consider one of Martin’s teammates at Carrow Road, who is reportedly available for £1.5 million during this window, and is attracting attention from a host of Championship clubs, according to a recent report from The Sun.
Cameron Jerome has struggled for game-time this term, but proved last season that he is still capable of finding the back of the net, scoring 16 times in the second tier to finish as the seventh-highest goalscorer in the division.
With the Gers’ current strikers – barring Morelos – hardly capturing the imagination, it is surely worth the club making their own move for Jerome in the hope that they can land him for a low seven-figure fee and he goes on to prove, like Graham Dorrans has when fit following his move from Norwich to Rangers, that he can provide Morelos with the support he needs.
