The Australian international admits being a boyhood Aston Villa fan.

Australia’s striking talent Jamie MacLaren has admitted his boyhood love for Aston Villa this week, whilst praising his international captain Mile Jedinak.

MacLaren was talking about his involvement in the Australian national team after recently making his debut for his nation.

He told Football Australia of how he looks up to Aston Villa’s midfield star Jedinak:

“It’s amazing to see such fantastic footballers in Australia.

“Mile Jedinak, the captain is someone I look up to. He obviously plays at Aston Villa, my boyhood club.”

MacLaren’s love for Aston Villa also shines through, so is he an option they should consider?

His scoring record of late is good. He scored 20 goals in 25 A-League games last season and has two in five this.

The 23-year-old, who spent four years on the books at Blackburn Rovers, has been in great form for his current club Brisbane Roar ever since leaving Perth Glory in 2015.

With his current form considered there is no doubt that MacLaren is destined for a European move. Considering his previous with Blackburn than a move to England seems a plausible and logical guess.

Aston Villa would be doing well to play on his sentiment and offer him a chance at Villa Park. It might just be a shrewd piece of business come January.
