The prolific young striker has impressed for Wolves at U18 level this season.
Talented young Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Austin Samuels has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Samuels turned 17 yesterday and marked the occasion by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
As reported by the club’s official website, Samuels said: “I am really very happy to sign the contract and it is a proud moment for me and my family.
“It gives me real confidence and shows that the club have faith in me.
“Hopefully I can push on now and continue to make my way through the ranks and make it to the first team at some stage.”
Samuels was unexpectedly involved with the first-team squad during pre-season as he scored the winner against Peterborough United and will hope to eventually make the breakthrough.
For now Samuels is continuing to thrive for Wolves’ U18 side, for whom he has scored five goals in eight games so far this season.
A clinical finisher, Samuels’ next step will be to try and break into Wolves’ U23 squad, while he will also hope to impress sufficiently to get into the England youth set-up at some stage.
Several Wolves youngsters have been given opportunities to impress in the first-team recently, including midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, and Samuels is aiming to be one of the next players off the production line.
Wolves are currently top of the Championship, two points clear of their closest challengers Sheffield Wednesday, and are hopeful of securing promotion to the Premier League.
