Austin Reaves claims the LA Lakers have to show improvement as a team in one major part of the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers were humbled by the San Antonio Spurs, who dominated them for all four quarters to grab a spot in the NBA Cup semi-finals.
All of the Lakers’ biggest weaknesses were on full display as the Spurs ran roughshod over them. And the Lakers could do nothing to stop them.

Austin Reaves says LA Lakers must address defensive ‘weakness’ as a team
Austin Reaves spoke after the LA Lakers’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He believes that the Lakers’ weakness on the defensive end was exposed.
While he doesn’t think the LA Lakers have been mentally defeated, they do need to come together and play hard on the defensive end, and play well together.
“That’s a weakness we’ve got to get better at. The spirit is still high in here; we know we can do it. But we have to be a group that guards with five people.
“It’s like LeBron said, we gotta be on a string through our rotations and play hard.”
LA Lakers must decide to make some moves
If the LA Lakers learn anything from this loss to the San Antonio Spurs, it is that their roster is flawed, and needs to be fixed.
The Lakers have more than enough offensive firepower, with Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves all capable of leading the team in scoring on any given night.
But their defense is hollow, as all three players mentioned are average defenders on their best night. Right now, the Lakers’ best defenders are Marcus Smart, Jake LaRavia, and Deandre Ayton.
Rob Pelinka should be on the phone as soon as possible to try and make some trades for some two-way wing players, as they are crucial to winning an NBA championship.
