The Australia international is reportedly going to join Celtic this summer.
Celtic are interested in signing Daniel Arzani this summer.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed the club’s interest in bringing the 19-year-old starlet to Parkhead [The Daily Star].
Arzani, who made three appearances for Australia at the World Cup, is contracted to Melbourne City but is close to joining Manchester City.
However, the young winger will immediately join Celtic on at least a two-year loan deal, according to The Daily Record.
Rodgers already has one Aussie in the form of Tom Rogic, who is arguably the Bhoys’ best player, and Arzani is being tipped to emulate the stylistic midfielder in Glasgow.
Aurelio Vidmar, who used to manage the Socceroos’ Under-23 side, says that Rodgers will be getting a “class player” and one who can follow in the foot steps of the “world-class” Rogic.
Vidmar, whose brother is Rangers legend Tony, told The National: “He is certainly one who can get past people and make things happen. That is a special quality in my opinion. He is a class player. He is somebody who can change a game within minutes. Those type of players are always loved by supporters.
“It took Tom Rogic quite a bit of time to get an opportunity with Celtic and establish himself in the first team. But once he got an extended run he cemented himself in the team. I believe he is a world-class player now. Daniel has got that same opportunity.”
If and when it happens, Arzani will be Celtic’s third signing of a relatively low-key summer on the transfer front.
Both of Rodgers’s pre-season recruits have been players who were on loan at Parkhead last summer – Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard, though the latter set the club back a record £8 million.
