Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he’s a super big fan of Arsenal team-mate Mo Elneny.
The Egypt international returned to North London this past summer after a loan spell with Besiktas.
When Unai Emery and Arsenal loaned him to Turkey a year ago, it was a strong possibility that Elneny would never play for the club again.
But Mikel Arteta is clearly a big fan of the former Basel midfielder, who has started three Premier League games this season.
It’s a major turnaround for Elneny – a £7 million signing under Arsene Wenger in 2016 – and Aubameyang says that he’s delighted he is back.
He said via Bein Sport: “I love him because he’s like me a bit, he’s always happy and positive, this is why I like him.
“On the pitch, he’s a really great player, he always wants to play forward. He always tries to give us the ball and we’re happy that he’s back.”
The sad thing about Elneny is that his playing time will be reduced in a big way.
Arsenal signed Thomas Partey on transfer deadline day a little earlier this month and, being of the same position, it isn’t good news for Elneny.
That being said, the 28-year-old clearly has an excellent attitude and you really wouldn’t put it past him to push Partey very close in training.
