Darren Bent has said on talkSPORT (4:25pm, October 8, 2021) that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a player who could join Newcastle United.
The Arsenal-supporting former Tottenham Hotspur striker has said that it would not surprise him if Aubameyang ends up at Newcastle.
Bent, a former Sunderland striker, made the comments about the 32-year-old – who cost Arsenal £56 million in transfer fee in January 2018, according to BBC – while discussing if any Gunners’ players would make the switch to Newcastle.
An investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, have taken over Newcastle from Mike Ashley.
Bent said: “Someone like Aubameyang, though, it wouldn’t surprise me if he went.”

Unlikely to happen?
Aubameyang is 32 now.
Surely Newcastle are not going to spend money on a striker in his early 30s.
Moreover, the Gabon international has not been at his best for over a year now.
The new Newcastle owners are very rich, but they are not going to simply spend money on players who are not going to make the team stronger.
Yes, we know that anything is possible in the world of football, but we really find it hard to imagine that Newcastle would make a move for the Arsenal striker.
