Robbie Fowler has told The Sunday Mirror (22/8; page 69) that Liverpool would not hand a striker in his 30s a new deal like Arsenal did with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The former Liverpool star has suggested that Arsenal made a mistake in giving Aubameyang a new contract last year.
The pundit does not think that Liverpool, Manchester United or Manchester City would do something similar with any of their strikers.
Fowler made the comments while discussing the players who could leave Arsenal this summer.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation
Aubameyang has been the subject of speculation this summer after struggling last season.
90min reported only last week that Arsenal Technical Director Edu is working behind the scenes to offload the 32-year-old.
The striker reportedly has had disagreements with manager Mikel Arteta, although the way the Spaniard has spoken about him in public suggests otherwise.
As reported by The Times at the time, Aubameyang signed a new deal in September last year which saw his basic wage increase to 250,000 a week.

What Robbie Fowler said
Fowler told the Sunday Mirror (22/8; page 69) when discussing who may yet leave: “If it’s Aubameyang, then I’d be asking serious questions if I was an Arsenal fan.
“They went all out to give him a ridiculous contract last year, when they were laying off staff.
“He was 31 when they gave him that crazy deal. No way would Liverpool, Manchester United or City do that these days for a striker.”

Mistake from Arsenal?
It is easy to say now that Arsenal made a mistake handing Aubameyang a new deal.
After all, the 32-year-old striker scored just 10 goals in the Premier League last season.
However, at the time, you could understand why the Gunners decided to give the Gabon international the deal that they did.
Aubameyang had scored 22 goals in the Premier League in 2019-20 and also found the back of the net 22 times in the league in 2018-19.
