The Tottenham head coach wants his players to be more clinical.
Tottenham Hotspur are in dreamland right now but Mauricio Pochettino isn’t getting carried away – maintaining the attitude he’s shown all season, according to BBC Football.
Indeed, the Argentine is still demanding more from his players and wants his squad to be more clinical after a 1-0 win over Watford.
Heurelho Gomes stood in Tottenham’s way with some brilliant saves but Pochettino still wanted more from his players in front of goal, despite one goal being enough to see off the Hornets on Saturday afternoon.
Pochettino told the BBC: “We need to be careful and always work in the same way. In football you can never stop. You always need to improve and fix a different situation. We still need to be more clinical, we created a lot of chances today but need to score more.
“We have a good idea of how we want to build the squad for the future and it is important to take this philosophy and deliver it.”
It’s a wonderful problem to have, isn’t it? Winning to move second in the Premier League and demanding more from your players will certainly be a satisfying feeling for Pochettino.
Can Spurs stay second in the coming weeks? Next up for Tottenham is a tough trip to Manchester City, before a home clash against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
