Celtic target Patrick Twumasi is reportedly wanted by Stuttgart too.
According to Kick GH in Ghana, Stuttgart have joined Celtic in the race to sign Astana forward Patrick Twumasi ahead of the January transfer window.
Twumasi, 23, was on the books with Spartaks Jurmala in Latvia when he was farmed out on loan to Kazakhstan with Astana, scoring 16 goals in 28 games during his two loan spells.
Eventually, Astana landed the Ghanaian forward permanently in 2015, and he has continued to excel with 44 goals in 123 games for the Kazakhstani outfit.
Unsurprisingly, Twumasi’s goalscoring exploits have sparked interest, with Ghana Sports Online recently claiming that Celtic are keen to land Twumasi in 2018, as manager Brendan Rodgers plots a January bid.
Now though, Kick GH in Ghana report that German side Stuttgart have joined the race for Twumasi’s signature, and could rival Celtic with their own move when the transfer window re-opens.
The Bundesliga outfit – who sit 13th in the Bundesliga table – are looking for attacking firepower in January, and Twumasi has emerged as a top target off the back of his displays for Astana.
Having scored against Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers back in August, manager Rodgers will be well aware of what Twumasi can do, and may need to move quickly in order to seal his signature.
A pacey forward who can play out wide or up front, Twumasi could be given a path into regular Champions League football with Celtic, but the emergence of an established German side in Stuttgart means the Bhoys may face a battle.
