Doherty, who can also operate as a right wing-back, recently joined Tottenham from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.
Reguilon, who plays as a left-back, also moved to Spurs this summer, making the switch from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid.
The Spain international was on loan at Sevilla last season, and the 23-year-old played an important role in the team finishing in the top four of the La Liga table and also winning the Europa League.
Doherty played against Reguilon in the Europa League quarter-finals last season, and the Republic of Ireland international has raved about the Spaniard.
Doherty told The Guardian about Reguilon: “We were directly against each other and I know what type of player he is – very attack-minded, who attacks you in behind, which is not a nice thing for a full-back to have to defend against.
“I like to run in behind, too – in the last three years [under Nuno] especially, that’s been my game, a constant runner. Hopefully myself and Sergio might be able to bomb forward up the flanks for the rest of the season.”
Good signings for Tottenham Hotspur?
Doherty is at the top of his game and is set to make an immediate impact at Tottenham.
The Republic of Ireland international is arguably an update on Serge Aurier and will make Spurs a better team.
As for Reguilon, he is only 23 years of age, and he will compete with Ben Davies and Danny Rose for the left-back spot.
