Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is one of the most dangerous players in Europe today after helping Napoli to Serie A title glory last season.
But it could have been very different for the all-action winger, who ‘nearly signed’ for Tottenham Hotspur, according to his former Rubin Kazan boss Leonid Slutsky.
That was before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s success in Naples, with the 22-year-old now landing himself a 17th-placed finish at the 2023 Ballon d’Or on Monday night.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finished above some stellar names (Ballon d’Or official list), including former Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who finished 19th and Real Madrid’s new hero, Jude Bellingham, who placed 18th – you think he is going to be much higher in years to come.
Either way, Spurs fans witnessed the magic and the record-breaking moments from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane during their days at the club.
Well, adding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the club’s ranks at the time would have been even more lethal and even now he could well and truly cook under this Ange Postecoglou system.

Tottenham signing elite players
After missing out on Europe, Spurs didn’t dip into the market and sign the elite players from across Europe, but those who were either highly rated or had just been relegated.
James Maddison was the coup of all coups from Leicester City, whilst Micky van de Ven has been equally as good at the back – Arsene Wenger has hailed both players.
But if Spurs continue in their current ways, and at a minimum, return to the Champions League next season, then things will become very exciting for the fans.
It will be interesting to see the road they decide to go down during the 2024 summer transfer window because they can attract the elite players if they wish.
