Kris Boyd has criticised Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports News (1:12pm, August 6, 2022) for his role in the first goal that Fulham scored today.
The former Rangers striker was not impressed by Liverpool right-back Alexander-Arnold’s role in the Aleksandar Mitrovic’s opening goal in the 32nd minute of the Premier League game at Craven Cottage.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that the 23-year-old England international right-back was “atrocious”.
Kris Boyd on Trent Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool v Fulham
Boyd said on Sky Sports News (1:12pm, August 6, 2022): “Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defending on the goal is atrocious. He doesn’t even know that Mitrovic is behind him and he just comes and bullies him.”

Disappointing
In our view, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was disappointing defensively against Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League today.
The 23-year-old is very good going on the attack, but against the Cottagers today, he did have a bad time defensively, especially against Mitrovic.
Now, of course, we must not forget that Alexander-Arnold is only 23 and is still learning and developing his game.
Yes, he is now an established himself for Liverpool and England, but he is still a player who is very much learning and is not the finished article yet.
Moreover, this was the first game of the season, and we know that it can take time for players to get used to getting back into the rhythm.
