HITC understands that Atletico Madrid have been informed over Conor Gallagher’s position on a transfer away from Chelsea.

Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer with HITC reporting that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are keen on the Englishman.

As well as this, Tottenham Hotspur are also understood to be keen on the English midfielder but it is our understanding that Gallagher is currently uninterested in departing Stamford Bridge this summer.

Gallagher had a good season under Mauricio Pochettino in West London last summer but the Blues are understood to be open to selling the academy graduate.

Atletico told of Gallagher’s position on transfer

Sources have told HITC that Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid made an enquiry for the English midfielder last week, with Tottenham also another side who are very interested.

As mentioned Villa, alongside Newcastle United, have also enquired over the signing of the midfielder but Gallagher is understood to have informed both sides that these moves do not appeal to him this summer.

As it stands Gallagher’s contract expires in less than 12 months, but he wants to engage in talks with the club – but this is something that is yet to happen.

Talks over a new deal have yet to occur but there is hope from Gallagher’s camp that when the player returns to pre-season, talks with Chelsea will take place about extending his stay in West London.

Chelsea left with key decision this summer

Gallagher is one of the most valuable players on Chelsea’s books this summer with the club hoping to receive £50 million for the midfielder.

With just one year remaining on his deal, this represents the final year that the Blues can make any sort of money on the midfielder with the club running the risk of losing him for nothing.

Enzo Maresca, who achieved automatic promotion with Leicester City, is the new man at the helm but it is unclear how the Italian will choose to use the Englishman.

The Blues have already completed the signing of Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with a fee of £30 million with Michael Golding moving to the King Power Stadiumd proving to be enough to land the Englishman.

With Maresca through the door, this would surely suggest that Dewsbury-Hall will be a key man at Stamford Bridge which adds even more uncertainty to Gallagher’s future in West London.
