Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has said that the La Liga club have not received any offers for Theo Hernandez.

La Liga giants Real Madrid (Marca) and Barcelona (Sport) are reportedly interested in signing the 19-year-old, who has impressed hugely on loan at Alaves from Atletico this season.

The French left-back has a reported £20m (€24m) release clause (Marca) on his contract, and Madrid are looking to activate it this summer.

“Theo is an Atletico Madrid player and until now, as far as I know, nobody has asked us about him,” Cerezo told El Larguero .

“We cannot talk about hypothetical things. There is a code, with all clubs. When we want a player, we talk to the club first, and then with the player. We have no intention to sell any player, but if another club comes with an offer which could be interesting to a player, they should talk to us.”

Liverpool should reignite their interest in Theo Hernandez

Spanish newspaper AS reported last month that Liverpool are interested in signing Hernandez and could better Madrid’s offer for him.

Cerezo’s comments should give Liverpool hope that if the player hope that the player has still not got out of their reach.

Liverpool’s left-back problem has been well documented this season. Alberto Moreno has been mainly used in cup games, while Jurgen Klopp has used midfielder James Milner at left back instead.

Hernandez is a pacey, attack minded left back who could be a great addition to the Liverpool squad.

Atletico could be reluctant to sell their player to one of their rival clubs, and especially to their neighbouring club. They would be more willing to sell Hernandez to a foreign club.

Should Liverpool make a move for Hernandez this summer?
