Atlanta United are reportedly convinced that Thiago Almada won’t leave this summer, with the player yet to ask for a move despite recent rumors.

According to the Athletic, the Argentine international is likely to stay in Georgia despite growing reports that Almada could be heading to Europe this summer after another incredible MLS season.

However, despite impressing for Atlanta and looking like an outside contender for the MVP award, Almada plans to stay with the Five Stripes. with the MLS franchise unwilling to sell their star playmaker.

Almada has been one of the best players in MLS since arriving in the league last year, with the expectation being that Atlanta will one day sell on the Argentine for a potential league-record fee.

However, that day won’t be coming this summer, with Almada seemingly happy in Atlanta and eager to take the Georgia giants to the MLS playoffs and potentially beyond.

Indeed, Almada staying in MLS with Atlanta this summer is massive for the league and the club, and the youngster’s development could lead to the playmaker driving up his own asking price come the January window.

Miguel Almiron’s 2019 move to Newcastle United remains the leading MLS sale at $27m, and there’s a real expectation that Almada could shatter this record for Atlanta in the winter.

The versatile magician is already part of Argentina’s national team setup, and with Almada stealing the spotlight for Atlanta on a daily basis, it feels evident that the South American could break the $30m ceiling.

Moreover, with Almada currently two years younger than when Almiron swapped Georgia for Tyneside, Atlanta have more power in a potential sale to ask for beyond the current odds for the 22-year-old superstar.
