The Canaries remain unbeaten against The Tractor Boys since April 2009 and are yet to lose this season.

Norwich City were unable to go top of the Championship on Sunday as they battled to a point against their strongest rivals at Portman Road.

The home side had the better start but were a goal behind in the 24th minute when Cameron Jerome’s guided effort finished off a fine move for the visitors.

Ivo Pinto found space on the right and was picked out by Alex Tettey with a sprayed pass. The Portuguese full-back then dribbled into the box before teeing up the on-rushing Wes Hoolohan. Rather than shooting, his deft touch found Jonny Howson who poked towards Jerome.

On the edge of the box, City’s number 10 then side-footed the ball beyond Bartosz Bialkowski’s bottom corner as it clipped the post on its way in.

The Canaries dominated the rest of the half but the game was level in stoppage time.

After Norwich’s defence failed to clear the ball, Town’s left-back Jonas Knudsen cut inside and on to his right foot, before striking in the corner of Michael McGovern’s net.

Ipswich had the better chances in the second half as Norwich played on the counter, but in the end both teams will be satisfied with a point.

Here are the Norwich ratings:

Michael McGovern 7/10 – A steady presence in goal. Was off his line quickly on a number of occasions and denied substitute Ted Bishop with a one-one-one stop in the dying embers of the match.

Ivo Pinto 6/10 – Up and down the right in the first-half. Brilliant work in the build up to the goal but dived for a penalty just before. Was replaced at half time as a precaution.

Ryan Bennett 6/10 – Did what was required of him, perhaps unlucky not to be awarded a penalty for a tug on his shirt.

Timm Klose 6/10 – Calm on the ball at all times and strong in the air. Showed weakness with a lack of pace, as Daryl Murphy got in behind on a couple of occasions.

Robbie Brady 7/10 – Coped well with Ipswich’s best player, Grant Ward, and offered an alternative outlet with his surging runs up the left flank.

Youssouf Mulumbu 6/10 – First start for City in six months and added grit to the middle. Replaced by Jacob Murphy with Norwich seeking a winner.

Alex Tettey 6/10 – A lovely ball to Pinto in the build-up to the goal. Could have closed Knudsen down better as Town equalised, and received the game’s only booking, for dissent.

Jonny Howson 7/10 – Like Tettey, did not press well enough late in the first half. However, the skipper provided the assist to Jerome with a deft toe poke.

Wes Hoolahan 8/10 – Norwich’s most creative player once again as almost every attack ran through the 34-year-old. Wriggles between players and finds pockets of space with ease.

Steven Naismith 6/10 – Perhaps a tad quiet but his feint in front of Hoolahan in the build up to the goal drew a defender out of the game. Replaced by Sergi Canos with ten minutes remaining.

Cameron Jerome 7/10 – A physical presence up front throughout. Scores goals at this level and grabbed another East Anglian derby strike with his 24th minute opener. A cracking finish with the inside of his boot.

Subs – Whittaker 7/10, Murphy 6/10, Canos 6/10
