The Tractor Boys have not beaten their fiercest rivals since April 2009, have halted a four game losing streak in the league.

Norwich City were unable to go top of the Championship on Sunday as they battled to a point against their strongest rivals at Portman Road.

The home side had the better start but were a goal behind in the 24th minute when Cameron Jerome’s guided effort finished off a fine move for the visitors.

Ivo Pinto found space on the right and was picked out by Alex Tettey with a sprayed pass. The Portuguese full-back then dribbled into the box before teeing up the on-rushing Wes Hoolohan. Rather than shooting, his deft touch found Jonny Howson who poked toward Jerome.

On the edge of the box, City’s number 10 then side-footed the ball beyond Bartosz Bialkowski’s bottom corner as it clipped the post on its way in.

The Canaries dominated the rest of the half but the game was level in stoppage time.

After Norwich’s defence failed to clear the ball, Town’s left-back Jonas Knudsen cut inside and on to his right foot, before striking in the corner of Michael McGovern’s net.

Ipswich had the better chances in the second half as Norwich played on the counter, but in the end both teams will be satisfied with a point.

Here are the Ipswich player ratings:

Bartosz Bialkowski 6/10 – Didn’t have much to do as Norwich only had three shots on target.

Luke Chambers 7/10 – Led the defence well and looks to be developing a savvy partnership with right-winger Grant Ward.

Christophe Berra 6/10 – Did what was required for the most part, but was at sixes and sevens in Norwich’s build up to their goal.

Adam Webster 6/10 – New signing bought in as the ball-playing defender. Did little wrong, but was out muscled by Jerome on occasion.

Jonas Knudsen 7/10 – Struggled to deal with Pinto for a brief period but scored a magnificent equaliser with his weaker foot.

Cole Skuse 5/10 – You could be forgiven for forgetting Skuse played.

Kevin Bru 6/10 – Like Skuse, was ineffectual and replaced by Teddy Bishop who almost scored a late winner.

Jonathan Douglas 7/10 – The best of the three in the midfield. Industrious and unlucky to have an early effort chalked off for offside.

Grant Ward at Rotherham United against BurnleyGrant Ward spent last season on loan at Rotherham United.

Grant Ward 8/10 – The ex-Tottenham man was Town’s best player. Direct, confident and offers a decent cross. £500,000 seems a snip.

Freddy Sears 6/10 – Didn’t offer much going forward but tracked back regularly in the first half. However, should have dealt with Pinto better.

Daryl Murphy 7/10 – Unsettled the Norwich centre backs from the start. Could have had a penalty on another day but needed to work harder to get on the end of Ward’s crosses.
