Atalanta take on Everton in the Europa League this evening.

Atalanta winger Alejandro Gomez has spoke of his excitement at getting to take on Everton’s Wayne Rooney in the Europa League.
The Italian side host Everton in the opening game of the Europa League group stages this evening.
Speaking at a press conference reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Gomez praised Everton forward Rooney.

Gomez was asked cheeikly who was a better player, himself or Rooney.
He responded: “Wayne Rooney, of course. He is an extraordinary player who has made history at Manchester United. I
“It is a pride to be able to play these games, and even to have him as an opponent.”
Rooney returned to boyhood club Everton in the summer and struck two goals in his opening two games.

Gomez may have responded humbly to the question, but he is likely to be a threat to Everton this evening.
Last season the 29-year-old scored 16 goals for Atalanta, the highest tally of his career, and earned a call up into Argentina’s national team for the very first time.
This campaign he is looking for his first goal but has two assists in his three matches played so far.
