Leeds need additions in January if they are to continue their promotion hunt.
Garry Monk’s Birmingham City are beginning to come to life under the former Leeds United manager and part of that is down to the form of exciting attacker Che Adams.
Featuring in all 17 Championship matches so far for the Blues, 22-year-old Adams has found the back of the net eight times as well as creating two goals. He has been the go-to guy if Birmingham need a bit of creation.
His hat-trick against Hull City last time out proved just how effective he can be, whether it be in terms of speed, technicality or power. Even in the air, Adams is more than adept.
His excellent form has seen the Telegraph claim Stoke City are preparing a £5million offer to land the Blues ace in the January transfer window, but Stoke are faltering under Gary Rowett since their relegation from the Premier League.
A move to Stoke City would see Adams join a side two places behind Birmingham in the Championship table. A player of his potential, form and indeed quality should be looking ahead.
It should convince Leeds to rival Stoke with a £5million move in the January transfer window for Adams, to bolster their ranks in attack and push them towards promotion to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2004.
Adams’ power and physicality is something Leeds somewhat lack going forward, with Pablo Hernandez, Samu Saiz, Jack Harrison, Kemar Roofe, Matuesz Klich all known for their technicality – but certainly not their strength.
Adding Adams into the Leeds ranks gives Bielsa’s side a different option, one that can add a bit of guile and nastiness, but maintain the flair and beauty of Bielsa’s attacking style. He showed Bielsa that earlier in the season, scoring both of Birmingham’s goals in the 2-1 loss at Elland Road
At £5million, Adams is a bargain that Leeds simply cannot afford to ignore.
