Leeds United are still expected to bring in a signing or two before the end of the summer window – with a striker and a left-back of top priority. The ideal opportunity might have just come up for Leeds, in Chelsea ace Emerson Palmieri.
Junior Firpo is close to returning to action and is likely to be fit again before the end of the window. But the ex-Barcelona man has struggled since moving to Elland Road. Behind him, there is little cover on the left of the defence.
Pascal Struijk has started both Premier League matches on the left. But standing at well over 6ft, he is naturally a centre-back. Stuart Dallas was seen running at Thorp Arch last week, but he is some way off returning to fitness.
Even when the Northern Irishman returns, he might be seen as more of a midfielder. So, Leeds need a left-back and at £13million, they could do a whole lot worse than Chelsea outcast Emerson. He is surplus to requirements.

Chelsea ace Emerson ideal for Leeds: West Ham targeting move
Reports state that West Ham and Nottingham Forest both want to sign 28-year-old Emerson. He is still on the books at Chelsea, despite only playing 71 times for the Blues since joining them back in January 2018. He was on loan in 21-22.
Emerson impressed at Lyon. Despite being a 27-time Italy international, Emerson has not played the amount of games he would have liked in his career so fa. Just 181 club appearances for the likes of Chelsea, Roma and others.
Chelsea have just brought in Marc Cucurella from Brighton. They also have Ben Chilwell. So there is no way he gets in at left-back at Chelsea, and he needs to go. The report states that he will cost £13million, but it has to be permanent.
While he has not played much and struggled at Chelsea, he is easily good enough for a top-half Premier League side. That is proven by his Roma, Lyon and Italy form. Cheap at £13million, he would be ideal if Leeds still want a left-back.
