There are conflicting reports about whether Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill will be leaving the club before the January transfer window closes.
This is after the Sun claimed that Crystal Palace had agreed an £8m deal for Hugill as their search for a forward continues following failed attempts to sign Ashley Barnes from Burnley, Inter Milan’s Eder and new Rennes signing Diafra Sakho.
Roy Hodgson, manager of Crystal Palace, looks on during the Premier League match against Arsenal.
However, the Lancashire Telegraph has since played down the speculation and says that the last contact Preston received for the 25-year-old was back in August when an offer for the same amount from Reading was rejected.
It is suggested that this talk could be instigated by Hugill’s agent, which would perhaps not be too surprising as the forward handed in a transfer request over the summer.
Yet if there is a chance the former Hartlepool United man could leave Deepdale should Newcastle United at least consider challenging Palace for his signature?

Despite being in the market for several players, including a new number nine, the Magpies have only managed to make one new signing this month in Chelsea loanee Kenedy.
Hugill could represent a relatively cheap option and is one that is in decent form having scored 10 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites this season.
