Newcastle are reportedly willing to sell Adam Armstrong for just £3million.
Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong could be set to leave the Premier League side in the coming weeks, after The Sun claimed Rafa Benitez’s men would be willing to offload the striker for £3million.
The 21-year-old has only featured for Newcastle competitively twice over the last three seasons, instead going on loan to the likes of Coventry City, Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers.
Now, the England youth international only has two years remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park, and Benitez is looking to sell the pocket-sized assassin for a bargain seven-figure fee.
It should tempt newly-promoted Wolves into landing the Toon academy product, as they need to add another striker as back-up in their bid to remain in the Premier League.
Wolves have landed 65-time Mexico international Raul Jimenez on a season-long loan from Benfica in what is somewhat of a coup, while Leo Bonatini has also joined the club permanently. But they have little else up front other than that.
A young striker, who is willing to bide his time before breaking into the first team on an intermittent basis is required, and Armstrong fits that bill.
The youngster has shown that he can score goals in the Championship and in League One, with 12 goals in 44 outings for Blackburn last season – 23 of which came from the left flank.
That versatility will also prove key if Wolves were to land the speed machine, and he would certainly further his development at the Molineux. For just £3million, he is a must buy.
