Should Newcastle United renew their interest in the Bristol City left-back if he is available for just £5million?

Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have both had a £5million offer for Bristol City defender Joe Bryan accepted, according to Bristol Live.

Neil Taylor is currently Villa’s only natural option at left-back and after monitoring Bryan for some time are now in a position to make their move.

Villa had been struggling with financial problems, but after this summer’s takeover involving businessmen Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, they can now make a serious effort to sign the Robins star.

Yet a Birmingham Live outlines, Newcastle United have also shown interest in Bryan in recent times and as the only Premier League club in the hunt, should they make the most of the opportunity?

After all, they currently have Paul Dummett as first choice on the left side of defence and while Javier Manquillo can fill in there, bringing in another specialist in the role may not be a bad idea.

Plus the relatively low fee should please famously thrifty Magpies owner Mike Ashley, while manager Rafa Benitez gets to further bolster his squad.

The fact that Newcastle can offer top flight football to Bryan should mean that they should easily be a more appealing prospect to the 24-year-old than either the Villans or Boro.
