The Arsenal man is linked with a move away, but should West Ham United throw their hat in the ring?

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic wants a goalkeeeper signed this summer and, according to The Telegraph, Manchester City’s Joe Hart is an option.

But should the West Ham manager look a little closer to home?

Across London, another keeper seems up for sale as Arsenal’s David Ospina courts interest from Ligue 1 Nantes who, according to France Football, are interested in the £3.5m man.

If that price is accurate, the Colombia international is an absolute bargain and the Hammers should certainly throw their name in the ring when it comes to signing him.

Many Arsenal fans would be sad to see the former Nice stopper leave North London and that is because he has proven himself an excellent back-up to Petr Cech over the last three years.

His FA Cup final epitomised his Arsenal career. He was arguably culpable for Diego Costa’s equaliser, but on the other hand he made a series of stunning saves.

He has never been the Gunners’ number-one option for longer than a month but he proved during the 2015-16 campaign that he can be a fine goalkeeper if he gets a run of games.

Not only would he get that at West Ham, the South American being a better option than Adrian and Darren Randolph, but the East Londoners would help him improve.

At 28, Ospina has a long way to go before he hits his peak years as a goalkeeper, and Bilic should let him reach that time at West Ham.

If it’s a choice between Ospina at £3.5 million, or Hart at £20 million, then it’s a no-brainer.
