Romelu Lukaku is heavily linked with a move away from Everton so should the club consider Watford’s Troy Deeney as a replacement?
While nothing concrete has yet been decided, Romelu Lukaku’s exit from Everton this summer appears to be something of a formality.
Lukaku himself was quoted by the Telegraph in June about his future at Goodison Park, stating; “Staying at Everton is not really an option for next season.”

The Metro says, as has been the case for most of the speculation surrounding the striker, that either Chelsea or Manchester United is his most likely destination.
Therefore the Toffees are almost certainly preparing for life without Lukaku and looking at options they could bring into the club to fill the void left by a player who scored 26 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions in 2016/17.
One name that the Merseysiders were briefly linked with by the Daily Mail back in May was Troy Deeney, someone who the Mirror now reports could leave Watford for around £25m, with Leicester City showing interest.
Deeney operates in a similar style to Lukaku, often leading the line on his own and using his powerful physique to get goal-side of defenders.
At 29 the Englishman may be significantly older than the 24-year-old Belgium international and also less prolific in front of goal – he has 23 Premier League strikes in 75 matches – but with better teammates around him that tally could certainly increase.
Also, with the Daily Star claiming that Lukaku could fetch as much as £100m, Everton could sign Deeney and still have plenty left in reserve.
