Rangers need to bring at least one centre back to Ibrox this summer.

Motherwell have seen defender Cedric Kipre become a sensation at Fir Park this season, but that now means that he is attracting interest from other clubs.

Kipre, 21, joined Motherwell last summer having been released by Leicester City, as he impressed on trial, earning a permanent deal under Stephen Robinson.

The Ivorian centre back has been a colossus in the heart of the Motherwell defence, and starred against Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon to guide his side into the Scottish Cup final.

The problem for Motherwell – just as it was with Louis Moult – is that clubs are now taking notice of Kipre’s performances, with the Daily Mail claiming that Vancouver Whitecaps want to sign Kipre for £1million this summer.

Cedric Kipre of Motherwell has his shot saved well by Jak Alnwick of Rangers during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Motherwell may look to turn a quick profit by selling Kipre for seven figures after signing him for free less than a year ago, and Rangers should be keeping tabs on the situation.

The Gers have seen young defender David Bates tie up a pre-contract agreement with German side Hamburg, meaning he will be moving on this summer, leaving a huge gap in the Rangers defence.

Kipre fits the bill for Rangers having already impressed in Scotland, whilst at 21 he possesses huge potential to get even better, and comes at a reasonable enough price for Rangers to invest in this summer.

Given that Russell Martin is only on loan from Norwich, Bruno Alves’ future is up in the air and Fabio Cardoso hasn’t impressed, Rangers must sign at least one centre back – and they would be making a smart move by grabbing Kipre this summer.
