Simon Jordan has stated that it’s ‘astounding’ that Roberto Martinez could be a ‘fix’ for Newcastle United, as he told talkSPORT (11/10/21 at 11:10 am).
There are suggestions that Steve Bruce could be sacked by Newcastle United this week, as reported by Sky Sports.
Amanda Staveley will meet with Bruce and the Newcastle squad for the first time on Monday, as the North East club officially begins a new dawn.
The Magpies will lock horns with Tottenham on Sunday and it would be a surprise if Bruce is still in charge, even if he is, it won’t be long until he is out of the door.
Various names have been touted to replace the Englishman in the St James’ Park dugout, but the ex-Crystal Palace owner was having none of the rumours about Martinez.
“The big thing, I thought, was get rid of Ashley,” said Jordan. “Everything else can take it’s time, can’t it? Every other decisions can be made at the right time and the right motivation.
“But the idea, and I am careful what I say given my observation last week about this deal not happening, that Martinez is a fix, to me, is astounding.
“Ask the Everton fans what they think of Martinez. I don’t think you will get that much of a popular response.”

Martinez, 48, was asked about the Newcastle job and he told Sky Sports ‘you shouldn’t ask me about rumours after the game’.
The Spanish coach is currently manager of the Belgium national team and they were knocked out of the UEFA Nations League on Friday.
With the World Cup in Qatar around the corner, it would be hard to see him take the gig in the North East, at this moment in time.
But given that the project that is being put forward, these new owners can lure many, many names to the job.
If that’s the case then some would suggest that they can push higher than someone of Martinez’s standing.
