Aston Villa were too good for Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.

Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Aston Villa at Craven Cottage on April 17, 2017 in London, England.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s superb 4-1win over league leaders Wolves at Villa Park yesterday, and shared what he told his staff during the half-time break, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Villans are the Championship’s most in-form side, having lost only one league game since Boxing Day, and they currently sit in third position in the table, four points adrift of second placed Cardiff City, and a further three behind Wolves.

Yesterday’s win was a vitally important one for Bruce’s side. It kept them in the race for automatic promotion, but would have also badly affected the Wolves players’ morale heading into the final stretch of the season.

Bruce was visibly delighted when he spoke to reporters after his side’s wonderful win, and he opened up on a conversation that he shared with his staff during the half-time break, as quoted by the Express & Star:

Manager of Aston Villa Steve Bruce during the pre season friendly match between Aston Villa and Watford at Villa Park on July 29, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

“We played very well and we needed to against a very, very decent team. I even said to my staff at half-time, even when it was one each it was a great game. It was a great advert for the Championship. To come out in the second half and score three goals was good to see.”

Next up for Villa is a home game against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night, before they make the trip to Bolton Wanderers next weekend, and a return of six points form those two outings really would put them in a great position from which to achieve automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
