Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has been touted to move to Motherwell in January.
Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack will have to prove his fitness and end his current season-loan deal with Central Coast Mariners if he wants to join Motherwell, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim that Scottish Premiership side Motherwell hope to seal the deal for the 32-year-old Villa outcast by the weekend.
It is said that McCormack is currently in Scotland where he is recovering from a knee injury that has ruled him out of action for the Mariners since November.
McCormack has not played for Villa since September 2017 and has struggled to make a name for himself in the Midlands following his big-money move from Fulham in 2016.
During his time at Villa Park, the former Scotland international has played only 24 league matches for the club, scoring three goals, form which saw him being loaned out to Nottingham Forest and the Austrian A-League.
Now, the Glasgow-born player could make a switch back up north and return to his former club at Fir Park as he looks to get his stalling career back on track.
McCormack represented Motherwell as a youngster in the mid-noughties, playing 45 games for the club, scoring eight goals before playing for a number of clubs in England.
Nonetheless, the report states that if McCormack’s knee injury is not a long-term problem and his parent club can free him from his loan spell in Australia then the club’s chiefs hope a deal could be struck over the weekend.
