The 20-year-old has reportedly signed a new contract at Aston Villa.
It looks like Aston Villa might’ve signed Callum O’Hare up to a new one-year contract extension.
According to The Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa have handed the 20-year-old – on loan at Carlisle United – a new deal.
And if true, it’s a very smart decision by the Villans.
The young midfielder is widely believed to be the club’s most exciting young prospect since Jack Grealish and tying him down for another year makes a lot of sense, especially given that they could lose Grealish himself this summer.
O’Hare, a lifelong Aston Villa fan, is nowhere near Grealish’s level as of yet, but the potential is there and two goals in 12 League Two outings for United illustrates as much.
He would have been available to leave Villa Park on a Bosman this summer without the extension, and the backlash would’ve been severe had O’Hare gone on to bigger and better things, and Villa lost him for free.
There’s very little to lose in signing him up to a new deal, but a lot to potentially gain.
