Aston Villa are looking for a new manager after they decided to sack boss Steve Bruce on Wednesday following a run of just one win in nine games.

Villa drew 3-3 at home to Preston North End on Tuesday night having led 2-0, and that proved to be Bruce’s final game in charge as he was sacked less than 24 hours later.

The search is now on for a replacement, and an appointment is expected over the international break, with a host of names already being touted for the job.

With that in mind, bookmakers have been pricing up potential replacements over the last few days, and here are some of the key names in the frame this evening, as compiled by Oddschecker.

The favourite remains ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, with the Frenchman in at between 1/5 and 1/10 this evening, with many still expecting him to take the reins at Villa Park following summer links.

Currently on the Belgium national team coaching staff, Henry could take his first steps into management with Villa, but there has been a fascinating twist today.

Sky Sports report that, if Henry doesn’t take the job, then Belgium manager Roberto Martinez may just end up at Villa Park, and the Spaniard – who guided Belgium to the World Cup semi-finals this summer – is now down to just 10/1 for the job.

The other big name being discussed today is Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers, and his odds are now as short as 6/1 amid claims that Villa are preparing an official approach, in what would be an ambitious move to land the Northern Irishman, who has guided Celtic to two treble-winning seasons.
