Aston Villa are looking for a new manager after they decided to sack boss Steve Bruce on Wednesday following a run of just one win in nine games.

Villa drew 3-3 at home to Preston North End on Tuesday night having led 2-0, and that proved to be Bruce’s final game in charge as he was sacked less than 24 hours later.

The search is now on for a replacement, and an appointment is expected over the international break, with a host of names already being touted for the job.

With that in mind, bookmakers are already pricing up potential replacements, and here are some of the key names in the frame this evening, as compiled by Oddschecker.

The current favourite is a real shock, as David Moyes has come from nowhere this evening to be as short as 5/4 for the job. The Scot has been out of work since leaving West Ham United at the end of last season, though fans may feel he is too similar to Bruce.

At 4/1 is Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, who is managing in this season’s Champions League and has won the last two Ukrainian league titles and cups, but he looks unlikely to make the move to the Championship.

Right up there with Fonseca is Thierry Henry, who is around 5/1 for the job. The Frenchman has no managerial experience but has been coaching with Belgium under Roberto Martinez, and has been linked with a move to Villa Park since pre-season, making him a smart bet for the role.

Another surprise name in the frame is Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta. Another candidate with no managerial experience, the Spaniard looks set to be in-demand as a manager in 2019, and he is just 6/1 for the Villa job tonight.
