The goalkeeper has joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United.
Aston Villa’s latest signing Sam Johnstone has told the club’s official website that he cannot wait to start working with Steve Bruce after completing his switch to Villa Park.
Johnstone has arrived at the Midlands club from Manchester United on loan until the end of the season. And the 23-year-old hinted that the lure of working with the Villans boss helped sway his decision to leave Old Trafford for the Championship side.

“I’m really delighted to be here and I’m happy that it’s all sorted,” he told the club’s official website.
“I can’t wait to work with Steve Bruce too. I’ve heard very good things about the manager. You can see his track record.
“He’s good for the club and I can’t wait to get going now.”
Given that none of Villa’s keepers have really managed to establish themselves as the undisputed number one this season, there is perhaps an opportunity for Johnstone to go straight in and stake his claim for a regular place in the side.
And if given that chance, he will be hoping that he can help the team continue to build the momentum that they have generated during the early stages of Bruce’s tenure as a place in the top six is certainly not beyond them at the moment.
Plus, working under Bruce may also boost his chances of making a greater impact when he returns to his parent club as the Villa boss knows better than most what it takes to enjoy success at Old Trafford.
