Aston Villa came from a goal down to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and Matt Targett.

Matt Target spoke to Aston Villa’s official website about his skipper Jack Grealish who scored and assisted to help his side beat Brighton on Saturday.

Villa have now won back to back games in the Premier League and are unbeaten since their defeat to Arsenal last month. Dean Smith’s side moved up to 11th place and are now just a point behind seventh-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the league table.

Grealish’s recent form has been a huge boost for the Villans and his performance against Brighton on Saturday proved once again that he is Villa’s most important player.

When asked about Grealish, Targett said: “He was inspirational. He’s the main man here. We know his ability. He’s been showing it for a while. But it’s great to see him doing it back in the Premier League now. I am close with him and it’s just nice to see him flying with a goal and assist.”

Smith would have been delighted at the start of the season if he was told that his side would be just a point off of seventh place right now. However, things could very quickly change over the next month as the Villans take on Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea in their next six games in the Premier League.

Grealish will need to continue his good form to help his side take anything from the games against the bigger sides. Failure to win any of those big games could see Villa drop down towards the bottom three and Dean Smith will be wary of the consequences of staying that low in the table during the busy Christmas period.
