Aston Villa could face competition from Manchester United in their quest to land the Leicester City head of recruitment, Eduardo Macia, according to the Daily Mail.

The Sun reported on Sunday that Macia is favourite to become Aston Villa’s new director of football.

But the Daily Mail states the Spaniard has admirers, too, at Manchester United, whom, it adds, are considering the appointment of their first technical director, and AC Milan.

The latter publication also claims Leicester are fighting to keep Macia, and are growing increasingly concerned behind the scenes he could be lured away from the King Power Stadium.

Convincing Macia to drop to the Championship would be a coup in itself for Aston Villa, who sit 13th in their third consecutive campaign outside of the Premier League, without having to see off two of Europe’s most illustrious clubs in Manchester United and AC Milan.
